WAHS Welding Students Honored at PCT for Placement in Competition

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (APRIL 4, 2017) — Williamsport Area High School students Cam Dickey (above left) and Andrew Schnars (right) were honored recently for placing third and fifth, respectively, in the American Welding Society competition at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The two were honored on March 29 at the college's Student Awards Night for their competition performance. For placing third, Dickey, a junior, was awarded an auto-darkening weld helmet, weld jacket, weld gloves and additional welding accessories. Schnars, a senior, was awarded an auto-darkening weld helmet and grinder. The equipment awarded was donated by local welding supply vendors.
The two are enrolled in Mr. Dave Gephart's Welding Technology class. The course is one of 14 workforce development programs made available to WAHS students through its Career and Technical Education program.
